Asus ROG Ally Leak Reveals Entry-Level Model Starting at $600 with AMD Z1 and 256GB SSD

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It seems like we have another leak in the gaming handheld market. This time, it’s about the Asus ROG Ally, a device that’s being touted as a Steam Deck competitor. The leak suggests that the entry-level model of the ROG Ally will cost $599.99 and come with a vanilla Z1 processor and a 256GB SSD. The leak comes from the same source as before, SnoopyTech, and has been corroborated by Roland Quandt.

For those who don’t remember, just two days ago, we reported on a substantial leak that revealed the pricing for the Asus ROG Ally. According to that leak, the device would start at $699.99 and come with a Z1 Extreme chip and 512GB of storage. If this latest leak is true, then it means that both configurations of the ROG Ally are within spitting distance of Valve’s comparative pricing for the Steam Deck.

Valve sells three configurations of the Steam Deck – a 256GB model for $530, a 512GB model for $650, and a 64GB model for $399. However, enthusiasts often replace the eMMC storage on the 64GB model with an SSD. It’s possible that Asus could follow Valve’s lead and put out an eMMC model of the ROG Ally.

The original ROG Ally leak came from Best Buy, and it appears that Best Buy is the source of this one too. This latest leak is likely to be the least expensive configuration of the ROG Ally. If you’re interested in knowing what the performance difference will be between a Z1 and Z1 Extreme processor, you can read our previous story on the topic.

It’s worth noting that other manufacturers are also planning to release handhelds with a similar chip called the Ryzen 7840U. However, AMD warns that this chip is not power-tuned for handheld use.

That’s all we have for now, folks. Stay tuned for more updates on the Asus ROG Ally and other gaming handhelds.

Until next time, keep smiling and keep gaming!
