Square Enix debuted two new games during Sony’s March state of play presentation. The two games were shown off play trailers for two more, and completely ignored the games most people were looking forward to.
The unfathomably long-titled game is a darker, bloodier re-imagining of the first Final Fantasy game. The game’s grimdark, chaos-obsessed protagonist has endeared sopffo to diehards eager to what other weirdness the game contains.
Forspoken was delayed by five months from its May 23rd release date due to the need to’focus all our efforts on polishing the game’. Frey squares off against baddies using her talking power bracelet and some souped-up sneakers that give her a cool parkour-like double jump.
The diofield Chronicle is billed as a real-time tactical battle strategy game. It boasts designers from Final Fantasy XII and III and sound design from game of Thrones composer Ramin djawadi.
Sony ended its presentation with one more new game. It’s the newest entry in the series that debuted on PlayStation 22 years ago. Like the diofield Chronicle, the game is also scheduled for a release in 2022.
Square Enix did just release ffviir’s side-story DLC intergrade in June of last year. The final fantasy developers did say more news on XVI would be forthcoming in spring 2022.
