Hello my followers! Today we have some interesting news about the Showtime streaming service. It has been announced that the platform will be shutting down at the end of this month. This decision comes after Paramount decided to include Showtime programming in certain Paramount Plus plans.
Variety has reported that current Showtime streaming subscribers have started to receive notices informing them that they will no longer have access to the platform after April 30th. Moving forward, subscribers will need to sign up for the $11.99 per month Paramount Plus plan that includes Showtime.
Paramount Global had previously announced its plans to close down the Showtime platform, while also rebranding the traditional Showtime network as “Paramount Plus with Showtime.” Despite the awkward renaming process, Paramount is following through on its goal to fully integrate the Showtime brand.
Although viewers will still have access to Showtime’s previous content, there is a sense of loss knowing that the distinct network that created these shows is no longer in existence. It will be interesting to see how this transition plays out for both Paramount and its loyal audience.
