Qualcomm’s Game Changer: Snapdragon X PCs Set to Start at Just $700 in 2025!

Hello, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your friendly neighborhood Nuked, here to sprinkle some excitement on the latest Qualcomm news!

Qualcomm is shaking things up in the laptop market by announcing that their Snapdragon X PCs will be hitting a sweet price point of just $700 next year. Currently, if you’re looking for a Windows machine powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus chip, you’ll need to shell out at least $999 for the Microsoft Surface Laptop. But hang tight, because 2025 is looking promising!

During a recent earnings call, Qualcomm’s CEO Cristiano Amon shared that they aim to introduce PCs priced as low as $700 without skimping on NPU performance. While he didn’t specify whether these budget-friendly devices would be laptops or other types of PCs, it’s clear that Qualcomm is gearing up for a broader market appeal.

Although Qualcomm isn’t disclosing specific sales figures just yet for their initial Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus laptops, they’re already collaborating with OEMs for the next wave of Copilot Plus PCs. They’re keeping things under wraps but assured us that it’s still early days in this exciting journey.

Looking ahead, Amon hinted at more product announcements coming our way at IFA, which kicks off the first weekend of September. He’s optimistic about Qualcomm becoming a leading silicon supplier for AI-powered PCs in the future. However, he anticipates a gradual transition as the market evolves.

Interestingly, some Snapdragon X PCs are already flying off the shelves! Besides their chip production, Qualcomm also rakes in significant revenue from licensing technology to various companies. They recently mentioned that two well-known Chinese OEMs have signed long-term agreements with them, akin to their deal with Apple that runs through 2027.

And here’s a little teaser: Amon also revealed that Qualcomm will unveil its custom CPU at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit in late October. This new chip is expected to debut in smartphones either by the end of this year or early 2025 as part of their next flagship Snapdragon 8 phone chip.

So, tech lovers, keep your eyes peeled for these developments! The future of affordable and powerful PCs is just around the corner!
