I’m not a camera expert, but I vaguely remember that pointing a camera at the sun is not recommended. However, after checking online, I found conflicting answers. So, I reached out to The Verge’s Emmy-winning senior video producer Becca Farsace for her opinion.
Becca’s response was clear – the Vision Pro is expensive, has multiple cameras, and the risk isn’t worth it. She jokingly added that I’m a free soul and can do as I please, but she would be mad if someone spent that much money only to risk it like that. Challenge accepted, Becca! However, let’s be real – I ended up using eclipse glasses over the Vision Pro’s cameras to satisfy my curiosity without risking any damage. So yes, you can technically view the eclipse with the Vision Pro, but be prepared for a “Tracking Failed” error message due to the darkness.
