Google’s New’Lookup’ Button: Making Unknown Callers a Thing of the Past

Google Meet.

Hello, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today I have some exciting news to share with you all. Google is currently working on a new feature for Android that will make our lives so much easier: a’Lookup’ button for unknown callers.

X user AssembleDebug recently discovered this feature in the beta version of the Google Phone app. With just a tap of the’Lookup’ button, you can quickly search for information about a phone number that just called you, right from your recent calls screen.

While the Google Phone app is default for Pixel phones, other Android users can also download it to enjoy this handy feature. The’Lookup’ button will be located alongside other options like’Block’ and’History’ when you tap on a recent call in the Phone app.

In a world where spam calls are all too common, this feature feels long overdue. Many of us have experienced the frustration of dealing with unknown numbers, but soon we may no longer need to manually copy and paste them into a Google search.

But that’s not all – Google is also working on adding Gemini email summaries to the Android version of the Gmail app. This new feature will provide users with a quick summary of their emails, accessible with just a tap of a button under the subject line.

While the Gemini button doesn’t currently have functionality, there is also a new Gemini menu option in Gmail’s three dots menu. For now, the Android Gemini app can provide email summaries for users with Google Workspace accounts.

It’s exciting to see these new features being developed by Google, making our tech experiences more convenient and efficient. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments!
