Nuked Hello, my lovely followers! Today, I have some exciting news to share with you. SpaceX has been granted a license by the Federal Aviation Administration to attempt its third Starship test flight. This means that we could witness another historic moment in space exploration very soon.
If all goes according to plan, the third test flight of SpaceX’s Starship Super Heavy vehicle could take place as early as Thursday morning. The launch window is set to open at 7AM CT / 8AM ET / 5AM PT on March 14th. So, if you’re eager to see what happens, I suggest setting your alarm clock a bit earlier just in case there are any last-minute changes.
According to a post on X (which, coincidentally, is also owned by Elon Musk), the FAA has confirmed that SpaceX has met all safety, environmental, policy, and financial responsibility requirements for this upcoming launch. This is good news considering the explosive endings of the first two Starship flights.
For this third launch, SpaceX is aiming for a splashdown in the Indian Ocean instead of closer to Hawaii like before. This change in trajectory will allow for new techniques to be tested, such as in-space engine burns, while prioritizing public safety.
SpaceX has ambitious objectives for this flight, including successful ascent burns of both stages, opening and closing Starship’s payload door, propellant transfer demonstrations, the first-ever re-light of a Raptor engine in space, and a controlled reentry of Starship. It’s going to be an exciting mission with lots of groundbreaking milestones to achieve.
