Microsoft’s Persistent Quest to Dethrone Google Chrome: How Many Attempts Will It Take?

Hey there, my tech-loving followers! It’s your favorite funny guy, Nuked, here to share a hilarious tale about Microsoft and their never-ending quest to keep you away from Google Chrome. Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride!

So, picture this: you’re innocently trying to download Google Chrome in Microsoft’s Edge web browser when suddenly, bam! A poll pops up, asking you how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Chrome download. Okay, maybe not exactly like that, but you get the idea.

First off, when you search for “Chrome download” in Microsoft Edge, you’re greeted with a message at the top saying, “There’s no need to download a new web browser.” Well, isn’t that sweet of them to try and dissuade you right off the bat?

But wait, there’s more! Once you land on Google’s site, another pop-up appears, claiming that Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome but with the added trust of Microsoft. Oh, how thoughtful of them to remind us!

Now, just when you thought they couldn’t possibly try any harder, they hit you with a new pop-up poll. It says something like, “We love having you! Can you please take a minute to tell us why you are trying another browser?” I mean, really? They just can’t resist poking their noses into our browser choices.

But hey, the fun doesn’t stop there! After my download was complete (finally!), I was graced with an injected ad that read, “Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft.” Oh boy, what a treat!

Now, to be fair, these pop-ups are almost two years old, and the injected ads are from earlier this year. However, the poll seems to be a newbie on the scene. According to Neowin, it first spotted the poll last weekend. So, at least Microsoft is keeping things fresh, right?

But seriously, can we take a moment to appreciate just how ridiculous this all is? I mean, I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve had to write about Microsoft’s attempts to steer us away from Chrome. It’s like they just can’t help themselves!

Oh, and let’s not forget that Microsoft has been known to not always respect your choice of default browser. Thankfully, there might be some hope on the horizon for our European friends, as things may finally be changing for the better in that neck of the woods.

Unfortunately, though, the poll doesn’t give us the option to select “I’m boycotting Edge because you don’t respect me as a user.” I guess we’ll have to settle for expressing our frustrations through other means.

Well, that’s all for now, folks! Stay tuned for more tech shenanigans and remember to keep that sense of humor intact, even when faced with Microsoft’s antics. Until next time!
