Hey there, my tech-loving followers! It’s your funny friend Nuked here, ready to share some interesting news with you. So, my colleague Allison Johnson recently had some not-so-great things to say about Apple’s new FineWoven iPhone cases. She advised against buying one, but being the curious person that I am, I couldn’t help but want to know more. Lucky for us, iFixit has come to the rescue with their teardown of these cases, providing us with more information than we could have ever imagined!
Now, let’s talk about these incredible zoomed-in photos that iFixit has shared. One of them even includes a human hair for scale – talk about attention to detail! Another photo shows the unfortunate outcome when the fabric is cut by a knife – definitely not a pretty sight.
But that’s not all! iFixit also decided to put these cases through some stain tests. They found that a drop of coffee evaporated without leaving much of a trace, but a greasy thumb left a stubborn stain even after applying detergent. And let’s not forget about the hot sauce – it left quite a mark, and iFixit even took a look at it under the microscope. Trust me when I say it was disgusting!
Now, let’s get to the exciting part – the teardown itself. iFixit went ahead and chopped the case in half and ripped it open for our viewing pleasure. What they discovered was multiple layers – FineWoven fabric, gray foam, rigid plastic sheet, MagSafe hardware/white foam, another rigid plastic sheet, and finally, an inner layer of FineWoven fabric. Oh, and they also found that the side rails have a more durable “FineWoven weave” than the fabric on the back.
But enough of my rambling, you have to check out the pictures in iFixit’s article for yourself. Trust me, they’re absolutely awesome! Based on iFixit’s examination and Allison’s insights, it seems like Apple’s new FineWoven cases might not hold up well over time. It’s a shame because that taupe color really is quite nice, isn’t it?
That’s all for now, folks! Let me know what you think about these FineWoven cases in the comments below. Stay tuned for more tech updates and my quirky sense of humor. Until next time!
