Cowboy, the boutique Belgian electric bicycle maker, has introduced a new commuter e-bike that focuses on comfort and a more relaxed riding experience. The Cruiser takes inspiration from the popular C4ST model and adds a top bar and wider swept-back handlebar, making it perfect for those who prefer a more upright position while riding.
Now, I had the opportunity to take the new 19.3kg Cruiser for a spin in Amsterdam, alongside the original C4 (now called Classic) and the step-through C4ST (now known as the Cruiser ST). Let me tell you, folks, this e-bike is a game-changer.
The higher swept-back handlebar not only takes off significant pressure from your hands but also places them in a more natural position. Riding the Cruiser feels similar to the Cruiser ST, but with a much more relaxed posture compared to the Classic. No more hunching over and straining your hands – it’s all about comfort here.
Compared to the Classic, the Cruiser is perfect for those long-distance commutes, especially if you’re someone who carries a loaded backpack to work. While it may not be as upright as a traditional Dutch “omafiets,” it strikes a great balance between sporty and utilitarian. Think of it as riding one of those fancy Veloretti Ace Two or VanMoof S4 bikes – but without breaking the bank.
But wait, there’s more! Cowboy claims that the Cruiser also boasts a higher gear ratio. Although I didn’t notice much of a difference during my brief test ride, it’s worth mentioning that I only rode each bike for less than five minutes on flat roads. So, take that with a grain of salt.

Just like the Cruiser ST and Classic models, the Cruiser comes equipped with a 250W rear-hub motor, a single-speed belt-drive, and a built-in mount that wirelessly charges your phone.
