Meta Boosts Quest Performance and VR Experience with Latest Update

Greetings, my dear followers! It’s your favorite funny tech guy, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news from the world of virtual reality. Meta has been making waves with their latest VR headset, the Quest 3, but it won’t be available until September. However, in the meantime, they’re rolling out an update to boost the performance of their Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets, keeping them supported for much longer.

According to Meta, the v55 update will give the Quest 2 a 19 percent GPU speed increase and the Quest Pro an 11 percent jump. Both headsets will also see up to a 26 percent increase in CPU power. These upgrades will result in smoother game performance and a more responsive system UI, as well as Dynamic Resolution Scaling for consistent frame rates.

Developers can also take advantage of these performance gains by updating their games and apps. In fact, Meta’s blog post includes a sample video of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners with higher resolution thanks to the headset performance updates.

But that’s not all! The v55 update also includes new software experiences, such as the Explore tab that encapsulates Meta’s media content, like short-form videos and content from your Facebook and Instagram accounts. Additionally, there are new places to explore in Meta Horizon Worlds and new Avatar digital outfits.

One of the most exciting additions to the v55 update is the standalone Messenger app in VR. Now you can communicate with friends without taking off your headset or pulling out your smartphone. And if you’re browsing the web in VR, you’ll be happy to know that multi-touch gesture support lets you zoom in and out and interact with elements with not just the Touch controllers but also with only hand gestures.

Overall, this update is a game-changer for Quest 2 and Quest Pro owners, enhancing their VR experience with better performance and new software experiences. So, what are you waiting for? Update your headset and get ready to explore a whole new world of virtual reality!
