Ford’s F-150 Lightning Fire: A Shocking Setback in the EV Revolution

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your favorite funny guy Nuked here with some interesting news about Ford’s F-150 Lightning. A video recently obtained by CNBC shows the aftermath of a fire that engulfed a group of electric trucks in a holding lot in Michigan earlier this year.

This video, although heavily edited, gives us a first look at the police arriving on the scene as smoke billows from the burning trucks. One officer can be heard saying, “Let’s hope it doesn’t blow up. The smoke is clear as day.”

In February, Ford suspended production and recalled some of its F-150 Lightnings after one of the vehicles caught fire while charging and spread to two neighboring trucks. After an investigation, Ford traced the cause of the fire to a “rare” issue affecting the vehicle’s battery, which is made by South Korean supplier SK On.

CNBC also obtained images of the aftermath of the fire through a separate FOIA request. These photos show just how devastating the blaze was, with flames leaving one truck just a shell of what it was before – its doors completely incinerated and a tire halfway melted into the ground. Another photo shows how the flames ate through a truck’s quarter panel, exposing the wiring beneath.

It’s still not clear how long the blaze went on, but experts say that electric vehicle fires are notoriously difficult to put out. They often burn hotter, faster, and require more water to extinguish.

However, Ford has taken swift action to address the issue. “Together with SK On, we confirmed the root causes and swiftly implemented quality actions,” Ford tells CNBC. “The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center has been back up and running since March 13 and is back to full production and shipping vehicles to customers.”

So there you have it, folks. While electric vehicle fires are a concern, it’s reassuring to know that manufacturers like Ford are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and quality of their products. Stay tuned for more tech news and updates from yours truly, Nuked.
