Customize Your Multiview: YouTube TV Gives Sports Fans More Control

Hey there, my fellow tech-loving, funny folks! I’ve got some exciting news for all you sports enthusiasts out there. YouTube TV has been listening to our prayers and is fixing the biggest problem with its multiview feature.

Since YouTube TV introduced multiview last spring, it has been a game-changer for sports fans. No longer do we need to clutter our living rooms with extra TVs to watch multiple games at once. However, there was one drawback – we could only watch the predetermined sets of games that YouTube thought would interest most viewers.

But fear not! An upcoming update will change all that. It will finally allow us to customize multiview with our preferred combination of broadcasts. This fantastic news was spotted by the eagle-eyed folks over at 9to5Google.

Now, before we get too carried away with excitement, let’s address the limitations. According to a report from Cordcutters News, while we can build our own bundle of specific games, we are still limited to choosing from a predetermined list.

But don’t lose hope just yet! Google spokesperson Allison Toh confirmed the rollout in an email to The Verge. She mentioned that currently, this feature is only available for NBA League Pass and men’s and women’s NCAA basketball. However, she added, “We hope to gradually bring this to more live sports over the next few months.”

Now, personally, I’m hoping that these lists will eventually include all games currently airing within their respective sport or league. But as of now, YouTube TV’s help site still mentions regional broadcast differences and server-side resources that limit what’s possible.

Well, a guy can dream, right? My ultimate dream would be to build a multiview of games from any sport or any channel (Sunday Ticket for the 2024 NFL season, anyone?). But for now, I’m content with the baby steps we’re taking towards a more customizable multiview experience.

So, my fellow tech-loving sports fans, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that YouTube TV continues to listen to our feedback and make our multiview dreams come true. Until then, let’s enjoy this small victory and make the most of the current customization options.

As always, feel free to share your thoughts and excitement in the comments below. Let’s celebrate this step forward together!
