Hello everyone! Today I’m here to talk about the news that Marvel Studios VFX head Victoria Alonso is out after 17 years of working with the studio.
Alonso was a key player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, originally as executive vice president of visual effects and post-production, later becoming president in the department. She was a co-producer on many of Marvel’s earliest films like Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger and an executive producer on all of Marvel’s features and series since 2012’s Avengers.
Though neither Marvel nor Alonso has officially announced why she left the studio, it comes at a time when Marvel’s films and series have been criticized for their VFX applications. This coincides with Bob Iger’s plan for Disney’s long-term success which involves reigning in content spend and less franchise installments.
It’s sad to say goodbye to Victoria Alonso, whose leadership has been an integral part of Marvel’s success over the years. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
