IFixit Goes Deep: Unveiling the Inner Workings of Apple’s Vision Pro

Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your favorite funny guy who loves all things technology, Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news. iFixit has done it again, pulling apart Apple’s Vision Pro and giving us a closer look at its inner workings. And let me tell you, there are some interesting discoveries!

Now, we already knew that the Vision Pro had not one, but two different types of Lightning-esque connectors. But thanks to iFixit’s first teardown video, we can now see even more juicy details. They’ve answered questions about what adds to its weight and which parts could potentially break the bank if they need replacing.

When it comes to disconnecting those Buff Lightning connectors for the battery cable and strap arms, it’s actually a pretty simple process. All you need is a trusty SIM eject tool. Once that’s done, the disassembly follows the usual routine for Apple hardware – heat gun, prying, screws galore, brackets, and connectors.

One of the most intriguing features of the Vision Pro is its EyeSight technology. iFixit has uncovered some details about this nifty feature. It turns out that a filter with lenticular lenses and film creates a 3D effect, allowing viewers on the outside to see the right image from their angle. It may not be as bright after all the filtering, but it’s still pretty impressive.

In a tweet from iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens, we get a glimpse of what the Vision Pro looks like without its outer layers. Removing these layers also exposes the cameras and sensors mounted around the outside. The video is quite brief, but fear not! iFixit promises there’s more to come. They’re planning another video that will delve even deeper into the rabbit hole of this intricate headset.

So, my tech-loving friends, stay tuned for more updates on the Vision Pro teardown. It’s a fascinating journey, and I’m excited to see what other surprises iFixit uncovers. Until then, keep geeking out over the latest tech news!

Update February 3rd, 2024, 7:06PM ET: iFixit has added an X post about the teardown, complete with a picture of all the dissected pieces spread out. It’s truly a sight to behold!
