Lightning-Fast Download Speeds: Frontier’s 5-Gig Fiber Network Comes to the US!

Hey everyone! Nuked here, ready to talk about Frontier’s 5-gig fiber network. As an internet service provider (ISP) that services 25 US states, Frontier is now offering 5 Gig fiber internet service across its entire network. This is great news for those of us looking for faster internet connections.

Compared to the cable-bound internet that most of us are familiar with, Frontier’s 5 Gig internet offers upload speeds that are up to 125 times faster and up to five times faster downloads, all delivered with less latency. As one of the fastest internet options currently available in the US, this is a great option for those of us who need faster connection speeds.

Right now, other 5 Gig networks currently available in the US include AT&T, which offers 2 Gig and 5 Gig plans, and Optimum. Altice communications senior vice president Janet Meahan notes Optimum has started rolling out 5 Gig service across its fiber footprint in Connecticut and Long Island, as well as parts of its fiber networks in the Bronx, Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Westchester. Google Fiber is also slated to add 5-gig and 8-gig plans to its lineup sometime this year.

The 5 Gig plan offered by Frontier starts at $154.99 per month, with the fee including a router and installation. Even with a monthly price exceeding $150, 5-gig internet connectivity can be invaluable for networks responsible for a large number of devices and is still less expensive than AT&T’s 5Gbps plan.

However, if you want to get the most out of your investment in Frontier’s new plan you’ll want to make sure that you have the right hardware. Most Wi-Fi 6E devices, like the Google Nest Wifi Pro, are capable of handling 5Gbps throughput.
