Twitter recently launched a new subscription package, called Twitter Blue, which offers users a “verified” checkmark, reduced ads, preferential treatment by its algorithm, and other benefits. If you’re interested in getting this package, you can now get it at a discounted annual rate of $84.
This annual subscription rate is available through the web, and it’ll save you over 12% compared to the monthly web subscription price. It’s also 36% cheaper than paying for the subscription via iOS. It’s not yet clear if Apple will allow this discount, but they have allowed similar exceptions in the past.
Other than the discounted annual subscription rate, there are no other major changes to Twitter Blue. You’ll still need to verify your phone number to get the checkmark, and it’ll still take an unspecified amount of time for your checkmark to appear.
It’s interesting to note that this news comes shortly after reports that Twitter hasn’t been paying rent on some of its office spaces. Furthermore, Elon Musk may have to make the first installment of interest payments on the $13 billion loan he used to finance his $44 billion Twitter takeover as soon as the end of January.
