Tesla Price Cuts: A Surprise Move to Shake up the Tech Scene

Hey everyone, it’s Nuked here with the top tech news of the day!

After months of incremental price increases, it looks like Tesla is reversing course with some massive price cuts. While no official reason was given, it could have something to do with the company’s recent financial performance.

Moving on, Royal Mail is continuing to deal with a cyber incident that appears to be a ransomware attack. The carrier isn’t able to send deliveries abroad for now, so customers are asked to hold onto their packages for the time being.

Nvidia has also released a cool new feature for its graphics cards that can make it look like you’re looking into your camera when you’re actually looking elsewhere. It’s still in beta, but it’s free to use so it’s worth checking out!

In other news, Spotify has recovered after an outage, Apple could be adding touchscreens to the MacBook Pro, Microsoft has fixed an issue where Windows application shortcuts were removed but won’t be restored automatically, YouTube is testing free ad-supported TV channels, Strava admits its price hike rollout is confusing, a Swiss company has pulled CO2 out of the atmosphere and stored it underground, Twitter’s “open source” algorithm could be revealed next month, and “Popeyes Kid” meme star Dieunerst Collin signed a Name, Image and Likeness sponsorship deal with Popeyes.

On the Vergecast we discussed the possibility of touchscreen Macs and what that means for users. We also heard from Marvel Snap project lead Ben Brode about item prices and the upcoming PvP mode. And Twitter’s For You timeline is now available on desktop browsers too.

Finally, YouTube creators are upset by its swearing policy, Clear Calling on the Pixel 7 makes it easier to hear people on noisy calls, The Last of Us’ co-creators say a TV show was always “lurking inside the game”, you can use your phone to find hidden cameras, and Netflix released a new trailer for Junji Ito anime.
