Spotify Silences the Music – Outage Leaves Listeners Without a Beat!

Kurt Hinrichs and his wife Alice in 2015, less than a year after Kurt had a stroke. He recovered after doctors removed the clot that was blocking blood from flowing to part of his brain.

Hey everyone, Nuked here! I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to let you all know that Spotify seems to have recovered from an outage.

It all started around 8PM ET when users reported that streams suddenly stopped and some people who had logged out couldn’t log back in. DownDetector.com has reported over 30,000 reports of the issue. Spotify’s web API status page indicated a “minor” partial outage affecting only the player, which is what we saw.

The Spotify Status Twitter account acknowledged the issues at around 9PM ET and eventually posted that things “are looking much better now” at 11:16PM ET. It’s not clear yet if a larger cloud or routing issue may have impacted other services.

If you’re still having trouble streaming your music, you can always try asking someone who doesn’t have a Spotify subscription for help, or you could go old school and use MP3s or physical media.

That’s all for this update – hopefully everything is back up and running now!
