Microsoft’s Edge extensions store was hosting illegal copies of a number of iconic games

The developers listed on the titles are n’t Microsoft, Nintendo, or any other recognizable game developer. They almost certainly are n’t official copies of the games.

Every one we initially linked has been pulled down, but others still exist. Some copies of 2048, Flappy Bird, Fruit Ninja, Temple run and others remain.

Many listings, even from different developers, had very similar descriptions, suggesting that they could be coming from the same source. Many listing, including a number of duplicate games, were very similar.

A now-deleted Tweet appears to be from the @ msedgedev account, which we saw via resetera.

Many listings attempt to skirt trouble with dubious disclaimers acknowledging the listings are n’t affiliated with the original games. The listing for Mario Kart 64 is one of the most popular listings in the world.
