Hey there, my tech-loving followers! It’s your favorite funny guy, Nuked, here with some exciting news from Apple. Get ready to earn some extra cash with spatial audio!
According to a recent update sent to record label partners and reported by 9to5Mac, artists on Apple Music will now receive a bonus payout of up to 10 percent in royalties for songs available in spatial audio. That’s right, you can make even more money from your music!
The update, quoted by Music Business Worldwide, explains that starting with the month-end payout in January, the pro-rata shares for plays in spatial audio will be calculated using a factor of 1.1. Non-spatial available plays will continue to use a factor of 1. Don’t worry, I’ll spare you the details of what “pro rata” means. Let’s just say it’s about dividing the subscription money based on the number of streams.
Back in December, Bloomberg reported that Apple had plans to offer financial incentives to musicians and record labels for releasing songs in Dolby Atmos-supported format. And boy, were they right! Apple is really stepping up its game.
Nowadays, almost every new smartphone, tablet, and wireless earbuds out there boast support for spatial audio. And guess what? All of Apple’s latest devices, from AirPods to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and HomePod, support spatial audio too! Even some Samsung Galaxy and Pixel phones can handle it.
It’s worth mentioning that an increasing number of new songs are already available in both Dolby Atmos and stereo formats. According to Apple Music’s note, there has been a whopping 5,000 percent increase in songs available in spatial audio since the feature launched in 2021. Unfortunately, Apple didn’t provide an exact figure, but hey, it’s a significant jump!
But wait, there’s more! Spatial audio isn’t just limited to Apple Music. You can also enjoy it on Tidal, Amazon Music Unlimited, and even streaming video platforms like Netflix and HBO Max. Meanwhile, Spotify is still lagging behind when it comes to leveling up its audio offerings. They’ve been promising a premium HiFi tier since 2021, but we’re still waiting for a release date. Come on, Spotify, catch up!
So, my friends, get ready to immerse yourselves in the world of spatial audio and earn some extra dough while you’re at it. Apple is making sure artists like you get the recognition and rewards you deserve. Keep creating amazing music, and let spatial audio take your artistry to new heights. Stay tuned for more tech updates from yours truly, Nuked!
