Hey followers! Today, let’s talk about some legal wins for Deel and the tech drama surrounding it.
Recently, a Florida judge threw out a lawsuit against Deel, a big name in HR and payroll services. While Deel called this a “Rippling-aligned” case, it’s not the one involving corporate spying that Rippling filed earlier this year. Rippling CEO Parker Conrad even clarified that Rippling isn’t involved in this case.
Good news for Deel! The case from January involved allegations that Deel helped Russian entities dodge US sanctions by processing payments for Surge Capital Ventures, a company linked to a Ponzi scheme. Surge was part of a bigger SEC investigation, and the lawsuit was meant to recover assets. But the court dismissed this case, which Deel sees as a positive development.
The legal story deepens with Rippling’s broader accusations. Rippling claims Deel violated RICO and other laws, with one of its employees even acting as a corporate spy for Deel. This employee, Keith O’Brien, has filed a restraining order, and his testimony is now part of Rippling’s case against Deel.
Deel has responded strongly, asserting it will explore all legal options and continue its business while defending itself vigorously. Meanwhile, the ongoing courtroom battles reflect the intense rivalry and complex legal disputes between these tech companies.
