Hey followers, Nuked here! Let’s talk about a cool new feature Instagram is brewing up to make connecting with friends more fun and personal.
Instagram is working behind the scenes on a new feature called “Picks,” which aims to help users discover shared interests like movies, books, music, and more. Right now, it’s just an internal prototype, not yet available to the public. The feature was spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who often uncovers unreleased goodies still in development.
From screenshots Paluzzi shared, you can choose your favorite shows, music, or hobbies, called your “Picks.” Instagram then finds overlaps with your friends’ choices, making it easier to spark conversations and deepen connections. While Instagram hasn’t officially announced anything, sources suggest this feature is seen as a way to boost personal interactions on the platform.
Instagram’s boss, Adam Mosseri, mentioned earlier this year that the focus for 2025 is on enhancing creativity and building stronger bonds. He emphasized plans to improve messaging, make content more interactive, and find new ways for users to connect with friends.
Of course, some folks aren’t thrilled about more features piling onto the app, especially after the backlash against Instagram Map. As with any new product, we’ll have to wait and see if Picks will go live soon or stay in the lab.
