Right now, access is limited to a select group of publishing partners and songwriters who are on a waitlist to join the program. TikTok conducted surveys with over 870 songwriters and interviews to understand what they need on social media—in particular, tools for better profile building and monetization opportunities. Interestingly, more than half of songwriters use social media, including TikTok, to enhance their visibility.
The company shared that these insights influenced the development of the new features. An image of the new feature interface shows a sleek, user-friendly profile section where songwriters can display their music, making their profiles a dynamic showcase of their talent.
According to TikTok’s music licensing team, their goal is to support writers by giving them a platform to share their stories, craft, and lives through music. Unlike TikTok Music, which was shut down last year, the platform remains vital for music discovery and promotion. TikTok has also introduced a TikTok for Artists tool, allowing creators to monitor their campaign performance and track their songs’ popularity.
Other platforms like Spotify and Tidal have long supported songwriter features, including dedicated pages and royalty tracking tools. TikTok’s move aligns with industry trends, reinforcing its importance for artists to grow their audience and showcase their work.
