After wrapping up a long 40+ year career at Intel, Pat Gelsinger is venturing into new territory — ensuring AI promotes human well-being. In partnership with Gloo, a faith tech company he’s known for investing in for a decade, he launched Flourishing AI, or FAI.

This new benchmark measures how well AI systems support core human values, inspired by a big survey called The Global Flourishing Study, involving Harvard and Baylor University. It assesses categories like Character, Relationships, Happiness, Purpose, Health, Stability, and Faith.

Gelsinger explained in an interview that he’s always been at the crossroads of faith and technology. The goal? To see if AI can genuinely support the human experience in all its aspects.

With this innovative approach, Gelsinger aims to steer AI development in a direction that nurtures rather than harms, promoting a future where AI and humanity thrive together.
