Meta’s Threads app is quickly closing in on X’s daily user count, boasting over 115 million active users daily on iOS and Android, with a remarkable 127.8% growth year-over-year. Meanwhile, X still leads with 132 million daily users, but its growth has slowed down by 15.2%.

Although Bluesky, another decentralized network, gained a huge 372.5% growth last June, it still only has around 4.1 million daily users, with over 37 million registered users. Bluesky’s initial surge was driven by users protesting Elon Musk’s X after the US presidential elections, but this momentum has slowed.

While Bluesky offers a more open, user-configurable social experience, current data suggests Threads could increasingly rival X, especially on mobile platforms, where it sees more activity compared to web visits. Web traffic, however, shows X still dominates globally with 145.8 million visits daily, compared to just 6.9 million for Threads.

In the US, Bluesky outperforms Threads in web visits with 2.4 million versus 985.2K daily, but X maintains a big lead with 33.1 million visits. On mobile, X again outpaces Threads with 22.9 million daily active users versus 15.3 million, with Bluesky lagging behind at 1.1 million.

Officially, Meta’s Threads claims 350 million monthly active users. Elon Musk has hinted that X hits around 600 million, but no recent official data is public now.

Overall, the race remains tight, with Threads showing strong growth and the potential to claim more ad dollars from X, even as X retains an advantage on the web side. Bluesky continues to innovate with its open ecosystem but faces challenges in scaling user engagement over time.
