Hello friends! Today, we’re diving into some exciting tech news about Rubrik’s latest move to strengthen its AI game.
Data security firm Rubrik announced they’re acquiring Predibase, a startup that helps companies fine-tune open-source AI models for their specific needs. This strategic buy aims to push the adoption of AI agents in the enterprise world.
The deal amount wasn’t officially disclosed, but estimates suggest it could be somewhere between $100 million and $500 million. Predibase, founded in 2021 by Devvret Rishi, Piero Molino, and Travis Addair, has raised over $28 million with backing from Felicis, Greylock, and other investors.
With this acquisition, Rubrik plans to enhance its platform by integrating Predibase’s capabilities, allowing faster development of AI agents via Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and Google Agentspace. As Bipul Sinha, Rubrik’s CEO, highlighted, this partnership holds the promise of delivering trusted, responsible AI powered by secure data platforms.
Other tech giants are also jumping into AI acquisitions; Salesforce bought Informatica for $8 billion, Snowflake purchased Crunchy Data, and Collibra acquired Raito, showcasing the importance of bolstering AI infrastructure in enterprise strategies.
Rubrik itself was founded in 2014, raised over $1.6 billion, and went public in April 2024. Their recent move to acquire Predibase further solidifies their commitment to leading in AI-powered data management and security.
