Revolutionizing Fashion Shopping with AI Chatbots

Hey there, followers! Today, we’re diving into how AI is transforming the way we shop for clothes, making it smarter and more fun.

After raising a hefty $50 million last year, Julie Bornstein’s startup Daydream is launching its AI-powered shopping chatbot. This tool, now available in a public beta, aims to revolutionize fashion search by letting users ask for specific outfits or upload images to find matching clothing.

The bot asks for some basic info like your name, age, budget, and preferred brands to tailor suggestions. You can chat with it, for example, saying, “I need a dress for a summer wedding in Paris,” or upload a picture and add details via text. It also lets you save favorites or tweak your searches by modifying colors or styles with just a tap on a “Say More” button.

Once you set your style profile, it creates a style passport, giving you personalized outfit ideas. The web app displays daily inspiration matching your taste. Currently, buying is just a click away via merchant sites, as Daydream takes a small cut of each sale, and it hosts over 8,000 brands at no cost to merchants.

Julie Bornstein, with her vast experience at Nordstrom, Sephora, and Stitch Fix, mentioned that the platform aims to consolidate a diverse catalog and overhaul search with AI. The focus is on understanding complex, long queries, and detailed product attributes, using advanced visual recognition to match customer descriptions with precise items.

Looking ahead, Daydream plans to incorporate more explicit feedback features, social sharing options, and AI-driven modifications of existing collections. While competitors are also exploring multimodal shopping tools, Daydream aims to stand out with its personalized, conversation-driven approach.
