Hey there, tech lovers! Nuked here, just dropping by with some wild news about the internet’s latest chaos. Buckle up, because this DDoS attack is nothing short of insane!

Imagine a flood of data so massive it’s like 9,300 HD movies streaming at once, all hitting a single site in just 45 seconds. That’s exactly what Cloudflare reported—an attack measuring a whopping 7.3 terabits per second. This super-sized onslaught sent over 37 terabytes of junk traffic flying through the digital ether, overwhelming servers with a torrent of UDP packets—basically, the internet’s equivalent of a traffic jam on steroids.

The attackers went on a digital carpet bombing mission, targeting almost 22,000 ports on one IP address, with a total of 34,500 ports hammered in total. Most of the attack used UDP packets, which are common in real-time stuff like gaming or video calls, but here, they were weaponized to flood the target’s network.

While a tiny fraction of the attack (just 0.004%) involved reflection tactics—where malicious traffic is redirected through third-party servers like NTP—they still managed to amplify their assault using vulnerable protocols. The attack also drew upon Mirai-based botnets, composed of compromised IoT devices like routers and cameras, turning everyday gadgets into digital weapons.

Over the past few years, DDoS sizes have been climbing steadily, with prior record-holders peaking at around 6.5Tbps or 6.3Tbps. This new record surpasses all of those, showing how the arms race in cyber warfare keeps escalating to mind-boggling levels.
