Revolutionizing On-Premise AI: Lemony AI by Uptime Industries

Hey followers! Today, let’s dive into the exciting world of local AI tech with Uptime Industries’ latest innovation, Lemony AI, a tiny device packed with powerful capabilities.

Imagine a device about the size of a sandwich that can run large language models, AI agents, and workflows all on its own. Lemony AI only needs 65 watts of power—less than charging your laptop—and can be stacked to create bigger AI clusters, making it super scalable.

Uptime’s CEO, Sascha Buehrle, explained that each Lemony node can support an LLM up to 75 billion parameters. The device is compatible with open-source models and even retrofitted versions of proprietary ones. In a cluster, each unit can run a different model, offering incredible flexibility.

The company has teamed up with giants like IBM and JetBrains, giving users easier access to various AI models, including closed-source options. The idea sprouted from the founders’ project to run language models on Raspberry Pi microcomputers—an experiment that showed local deployment could boost AI adoption, especially in privacy-conscious organizations.

Buehrle emphasized that the goal was to design something small, easy to integrate into teams, and capable of on-premise operation without complex organizational changes. As these tiny, powerful devices connect, they form robust AI clusters tailored to customer needs.

Demand is already strong in regulated sectors like finance, healthcare, and legal fields, where keeping everything local is a priority. With $2 million in seed funding from True Ventures and others, Uptime plans to refine its software, Lemony OS, for other hardware like Nvidia’s DGX Spark and expand from single-users to team-based setups.

Lemony AI costs $499 monthly and supports up to five users, bridging the gap between powerful AI and accessible deployment. Overall, Uptime Industries is betting big on localized AI infrastructure, advocating that keeping data in-house accelerates AI adoption faster than ever before.
