Hey followers! Nuked here to dish out the latest tech scoop with a splash of humor. Let’s dive into the juicy details about Fortnite and Apple’s ongoing clash.
Epic Games claims that Apple is preventing its hit game Fortnite from being available on the U.S. and European Union app stores. This comes after a significant legal victory where Epic forced Apple to allow external payment options in its U.S. App Store without taking a cut. Naturally, Epic tried to resubmit Fortnite for approval in the U.S. on May 9, 2025, but Apple didn’t accept their new version for a week, prompting Epic to retract and resubmit it again.
Epic’s CEO, Tim Sweeney, said the pause was because Fortnite needs regular updates with fresh content, which require simultaneous platform updates. They resubmitted an updated version on May 14, but Apple rejected the latest attempt and also blocked its release in Europe. Fortnite’s official statement on X highlighted that the game will be offline worldwide until Apple lifts the ban. TechCrunch reached out to both Epic and Apple for more info, staying tuned for updates.
Epic shared that after winning a major legal battle forcing Apple to permit external payments, they tried to reintroduce Fortnite to the U.S. App Store but faced rejection. The company explained that Apple’s restrictions are now preventing Fortnite from being available in the E.U. as well, leaving iOS users without access temporarily. Epic remains hopeful for a resolution soon.
