The tech is still finding its footing. Jassy admitted Alexa+ is a bit “primitive” and “inaccurate” right now. Most AI assistants with multi-step tasks score between 30% to 60% accuracy. Amazon is aiming high with 90% accuracy for its web-browsing agent, Nova Act, which powers Alexa+ behind the scenes.
Interestingly, Amazon seems to be moving faster than Apple, whose Siri update has faced delays. Apple’s Tim Cook mentioned they need more time to finish their work on the new AI-powered Siri during their earnings call held the same day.
Both companies are battling the complex challenge of getting AI assistants to seamlessly use tools and integrate with other apps — a tricky but crucial piece for making these assistants genuinely helpful day-to-day.
