Hey there, tech lovers! Nuked here, ready to share some exciting news from the world of apps and social media.

Meta has recently released a new video creation tool called Edits, and it’s making waves. In its first days, it outperformed expectations, with millions of downloads globally, especially on iOS where it hit nearly 703,000 downloads in just two days.

This fresh app helps users craft videos for Instagram reels, stories, and other social posts effortlessly. Its debut was so impressive that it surpassed ByteDance’s CapCut, the popular TikTok editing app, in initial downloads.

During its launch, Edits achieved remarkable download stats — over 702,900 times on iOS within the first two days, which is about 37 times more than CapCut during its first two days. As of Thursday, total downloads soared past 7.1 million globally, with 1.2 million on iOS and 5.9 million on Android. CapCut, by comparison, had only 83,500 downloads in its first three days.

In the U.S., Edits saw a massive start — 381,000 downloads in just three days, dwarfing CapCut’s mere 3,400. Its rapid growth and high ranking on the App Store are signs that Meta’s extensive ecosystem gives it a competitive edge. The app hit number 1 on the U.S. iPhone App Store charts on launch day and stayed high for several days.

Despite the strong debut, CapCut still has a huge user base, with over 1.22 billion downloads since 2020. Some creators have appreciated Edits’ user-friendly features, such as analytics, 4K support, and watermark-free exports. However, critics point out it currently lacks advanced features like templates and robust transition effects that CapCut offers.

Looking ahead, Edits might add monetization strategies such as paid tiers or ads to further enhance its offerings, potentially catching up even more with CapCut’s extensive feature set.
