Hey there, tech enthusiasts! Exciting news just came in from YouTube regarding its popular Shorts feature.
YouTube is actively considering a feature that enables users to set a daily timer for watching Shorts. This aims to help users manage their screen time more effectively.
Recently discovered in the beta version of the app, this feature would allow viewers to set a specific number of hours for Shorts viewing. Once that time is up, Shorts will pause for the day, promoting healthier usage patterns.
Interestingly, viewers will still have access to individual Shorts even after the timer runs out, so it’s not a complete block on content.
YouTube has stated that while this feature isn’t being tested yet, it’s something on their radar for future development. It’s part of a broader trend to combat endless scrolling and ensure users have more control over their viewing habits.
The platform already offers a “Take a Break” feature for regular-length videos, but this new addition specifically targets Shorts users.
This move comes alongside a growing wave of apps and devices aimed at reducing screen time and social media addiction, showing that tech companies are listening to their users’ concerns.
