This reference appeared on a Nintendo webpage about their new Virtual Game Cards, suggesting that while these games will run on the original Switch, they will have special features when played on the new console.
Historically, Nintendo has employed similar strategies to deliver enhanced experiences across different hardware. Remember the Game Boy Color? Dual Mode cartridges allowed certain games to come to life in full color on the upgraded device!
