The FBI has issued a warning about scammers impersonating the notorious BianLian ransomware gang. These fraudsters are sending out fake ransom notes to unsuspecting U.S. corporate executives.

According to reports, these notes claim that hackers have infiltrated a company’s network to pilfer sensitive data. And guess what? They threaten to leak this data unless their ransom is paid—anywhere from $250,000 to $500,000!

In a twist, the notes include a QR code that links to a Bitcoin wallet, making it all too easy for the scammers to get paid without a trace.

The return address of these notes points to an office building in Boston, Massachusetts, further enhancing their dubious credibility. While the BianLian gang is known for targeting various sectors in the U.S., particularly healthcare, the FBI has yet to uncover any direct connections between these note senders and the BianLian group itself.
