Jensen Huang expressed that the market has misunderstood the significance of DeepSeek’s technological strides, particularly its new R1 open-source reasoning model. Instead of seeing it as a threat to AI or compute resources, he views it as a positive force.
During a conversation with Alex Bouzari, he stated the market’s reaction was exaggerated, suggesting that it was almost as if people believed AI was no longer necessary. On the contrary, he argues that R1 will enhance AI adoption, proving that it creates opportunities for improving model efficiency.
Huang also emphasized the continued importance of resource-intensive processes in AI development. Though DeepSeek has advanced pre-training methods, the post-training phase remains crucial.
