Get ready for a showdown because this isn’t just any ordinary robovac — it’s got an arm and legs! At CES, we witnessed an epic battle between the robot vacuum titans Dreame and Roborock, each adding some serious limbs to their cleaning machines.

Dreame kicked things off with the unveiling of its X50 Ultra, the first robovac that can navigate steps and tackle room transitions up to 6cm high with its nifty legs. Not to be outdone, Roborock presented its latest flagship model, the Saros Z70, which features an arm designed to pick up items like socks. Talk about a multitasking machine!

But wait, Dreame wasn’t finished! They showcased an upcoming model that combines those impressive step-climbing legs with a robotic arm of its own. This new creation boasts a beefier arm than Roborock’s version and can lift items weighing up to 500 grams. Meanwhile, Roborock’s arm is limited to a lighter 300 grams.

With Dreame’s arm, you could potentially have it grab sneakers up to men’s size 42 (that’s a size 9 in the US) and deliver them right where you want them. Just imagine designating specific spots for your robovac to take items — toys to the playroom and shoes to the front door. It’s like having your personal cleaning assistant!

Unfortunately, during the demo, I didn’t witness any sneakers being picked up. Apparently, the notorious CES show floor Wi-Fi was less than cooperative. Instead, we got to see that sturdy arm moving around while the robot lifted itself up on its tiny legs — it was quite the sight, resembling a miniature horse in action!

Another cool feature is a separate toolbox filled with various brushes that the arm can connect to. This allows it to reach those pesky corners and tight spaces where the bot can’t fit and sweep out dirt and dust like a pro. Plus, they introduced a new base station that dispenses multiple mopping pads for different tasks around your home — one for the kitchen and another for the bathroom. No more cross-contamination in your cleaning routine!

Dreame’s Longdong Chen shared with The Verge that this innovative step-climbing, tool-wielding bot should hit the market later this year. While we don’t know the price yet, I think it’s safe to say it’ll cost an arm and a leg! Stay tuned for more tech adventures!
