Halide Mark III: Elevate Your iPhone Photography with Color Grading and HDR Magic!

Hello, tech enthusiasts! It’s your favorite tech-loving goofball, Nuked, here to bring you the latest buzz in the world of photography apps. Buckle up, because Halide Mark III is on its way!

Lux Optics has unveiled a sneak peek of what’s coming with Halide 3.0, affectionately dubbed Halide Mark III. In a departure from their usual secrecy, Lux is being quite transparent about the app’s development. Following the success of their Kino video app—recently crowned iPhone app of the year for 2024 by Apple—they’re bringing that same energy to their beloved photo app.

In a blog post by cofounder Ben Sandofsky, Lux has already teased some exciting features that will be available for early access to subscribers. They’re even launching a Discord server for users to provide feedback while trying out Halide Mark III. Talk about involving the community!

So, what can we expect from this upcoming version? Well, three major features have been highlighted: Color Grades, HDR photos, and a snazzy app redesign. Color grades will function similarly to those in Kino, allowing users to easily apply different aesthetic looks based on Lux’s own styles, classic film stocks, or even custom recipes shared by other users.

On top of that, Halide Mark III will introduce its own take on HDR photography, especially now that iOS 18 has made it simpler to enjoy HDR images across various platforms. It’s like they’re rolling out the red carpet for stunning visuals!

As for the redesign, details remain scarce. Sandofsky hinted that the new interface prioritizes functionality—if their version of Instant Grade works as smoothly as expected, it might take center stage in the user interface, much like it does in Kino.

While we’re left wondering when exactly Halide Mark III will hit our devices—rumored for sometime in 2025—there’s also no word yet on pricing. However, it seems promising that existing Mark II users will get this upgrade included, while those with v1 may need to pay up.

Stay tuned for more updates as we await the arrival of Halide Mark III! Until then, keep snapping those photos and embracing all things tech!
