Hello, my tech-loving friends! It’s Nuked here, ready to sprinkle some humor over the latest tech updates. Let’s dive into the exciting news from Google about managing your Nest Cams!
Google has rolled out a fantastic update allowing you to manage all your beloved Nest Cam IQ cameras directly from the Google Home app! This includes both indoor and outdoor models launched back in 2017. Now, if you’re still rocking a Nest Cam from 2015, you can also control it from the Home app instead of juggling between different apps. How convenient is that?
Over the past year, Google has been steadily integrating Nest cams into the Home app, and now it’s finally here for everyone to enjoy. Once you transfer your Nest Cam IQ cameras over, you’ll get to review video history in both event and timeline views. Plus, accessing camera settings becomes a breeze without the hassle of switching back and forth between apps!
When using the Home app, you can even check out live streams of your cameras right from your favorites tab and set up some cool automations. If you’re eager to join this public preview, just hop into the Home app or visit home.google.com. If you’re already part of the Public Preview club, you’ll see prompts in both the Nest and Google Home apps guiding you through transferring your cameras.
Access to this feature will start rolling out this week! And don’t worry if you change your mind—Google has made it possible to reverse transfer your Nest Cam IQ cameras back to the Nest app whenever you like.
But wait, there’s more! If you’re enrolled in the public preview, you can also manage any Nest Hub Max devices through the Home app. Just keep in mind that once you bring these devices over, there’s no going back to the Nest app—sorry, no take-backs!
Previously, Google allowed transfers for other devices like the first-gen wired Nest Cam Indoor and Outdoor, along with the Nest Hello Doorbell. They’ve assured us that they will continue supporting the Nest app for now, so no need to panic! The only features exclusive to the Nest app at this point are related to the Nest Protect smoke detector and the Nest X Yale door lock.
So there you have it—your Nest Cams are getting a much-needed upgrade! Embrace this tech revolution and manage your cameras with style!
