Amazon has decided to bid farewell to Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming service. As part of this transition, the content from Freevee is being moved over to Prime Video, so don’t worry—if you’re not a Prime member, you’ll still get access to new episodes of your favorite Freevee shows!

The shutdown will roll out over the next few weeks, according to Deadline. Freevee first made its debut in 2019 under the name IMDb Freedive. It underwent a couple of rebranding phases, becoming IMDb TV and finally Freevee in 2022.

This service had its own original hits like “Bosch: Legacy” and “Jury Duty,” and in 2023, Amazon even started adding some Prime Video content to the mix. However, it seems that things got a bit muddled after ads were introduced on Prime Video earlier this year.

In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson explained that the decision to phase out Freevee branding was made to simplify the viewing experience for customers. But fear not! Prime members won’t lose their content, and non-Prime members will still enjoy a wide range of free streaming options, including select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios and a variety of licensed movies and series.
