Hello, my tech-loving friends! It’s your pal Nuked here, ready to dive into some exciting news from the Apple universe.
Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its first smart home display, and guess what? It might just pay tribute to the iconic iMac G4! According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, this new gadget is set to have a design that brings back memories of that classic computer.
Word has it that the smart home display will be compact, featuring a square screen perched at an angle above a small base. This setup is said to evoke the circular bottom of the beloved iMac G4 from yesteryear. Imagine a HomePod with a screen—sounds enticing, right?
While Gurman hasn’t revealed any pricing details yet, he has teased the possibility of it being an “affordable” option. There are whispers of a more high-end version with a robotic arm that could rotate the display, but that one might not make its debut until 2026.
Both versions are expected to run customized Apple apps such as FaceTime, Calendar, and Notes. Plus, they will work with Apple Intelligence, something that current smart home devices lack. As a fan of the iMac G4’s design (I even use one as an external display!), I find this concept quite appealing.
If Apple does roll out an adorable smart home gadget inspired by the iMac G4—robotic features or not—I can already see it sitting on my countertop, helping me with timers and playing YouTube videos while I whip up dinner. Saying no to that would be tough!
