Hey there, fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s your buddy Nuked, here to bring you some exciting news from the gaming universe. Buckle up, because we’re diving into the mobile world of Destiny!
The whispers were right! The Destiny franchise is making its way to our mobile devices with a brand-new title called Destiny: Rising. This free-to-play RPG shooter captures the essence of the beloved Destiny universe and offers an array of hero characters, shared worlds, and both PvE and PvP modes to keep you on your toes.
Developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Bungie, this project was set in motion after a hefty $100 million investment back in 2018. Destiny: Rising takes place in an alternate timeline of the Destiny lore, focusing on the post-Dark Age era—long before the Tower and those iconic Guardians came into play.
What’s cool about this game is that NetEase has secured a license from Bungie for the Destiny brand, allowing them creative freedom to craft their own narrative. Stone Shi, a senior narrative designer at NetEase, mentioned they aim to let players explore and define their own experiences during this intriguing time in Destiny’s history.
Unlike its predecessors, players won’t create their own Guardians but will choose from a variety of established hero characters, including fan favorites like Ikora Rey. Each character brings unique abilities and stories, plus options for single-player, co-op, and competitive modes. Expect to encounter familiar faces like Ghosts and Iron Lords as well!
In the game trailer, we got a sneak peek at some exciting new abilities—like a void scythe that screams Warlock vibes! And yes, our classic foes such as the Hive, Fallen, and Vex are back to keep you on your toes.
Terry Redfield from Bungie expressed his enthusiasm about mobile gamers finally experiencing this fresh perspective on the Destiny universe through NetEase’s creative lens. It’s definitely a thrilling time for fans!
Players will have the choice between first-person or third-person views with various control options available. Expect the usual campaign missions alongside six-player co-op strikes and replayable PvE and PvP modes to keep things spicy.
And let’s not forget about loot! Players can look forward to powerful exotic weapons as well as a new Mythic weapon rarity class that introduces exciting new weapon types. These tools will help you battle darkness in fresh locations like Jiangshi and the Red Sea Rift while searching for seeds of hope that could reshape humanity after its collapse.
A big question mark still hangs over what monetization system will be implemented. While NetEase hasn’t spilled all the beans yet, they did mention that players can expect a chunk of the main campaign during the alpha test coming next month.
Mark your calendars! Destiny: Rising will kick off with a limited access closed alpha test on November 1st in the US and Canada. If you’re eager to dive in early, head over to NetEase’s website to register for your chance to join in on the action!
