Star-Studded AI: Meta Enlists Celebrities to Give Voice to the Future

Hey there, tech enthusiasts! It’s your favorite tech-loving jokester, Nuked, here to sprinkle some humor on the latest buzz from the Meta universe.

Meta is making waves by recruiting big names like Awkwafina, Judi Dench, and Keegan-Michael Key to lend their voices to its AI assistants. According to Bloomberg, the company is racing against time to finalize these deals before their Meta Connect conference in September.

One of the exciting developments is a digital assistant dubbed MetaAI. Reports suggest that Meta is in talks with top Hollywood talent agencies to secure these star-studded voices, with some actors potentially raking in millions! This isn’t the first time Meta has splashed cash on celebrity voices; they did the same for their now-defunct AI chatbots from last year’s Connect.

These contracts are said to be temporary, allowing actors the option to sign on again when they expire. The voices will be integrated across Meta’s various platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, as well as on those trendy Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear back from Meta when we tried to get a comment. Guess they’re too busy striking deals!

Now, if this all sounds a bit familiar, it’s because Waze has been using celebrity voices for navigation for ages. Remember when you could have Samuel L. Jackson roast you while you drove? Meta even dipped its toes into the celebrity chatbot pool last year but quickly pulled back. However, generative AI has come a long way and can now mimic human voices more convincingly. Just think about that demo where a chatbot sounded eerily like Scarlett Johansson—who wasn’t too thrilled about it!

Imagine hearing Awkwafina’s unique voice guiding you through your day! If this famous version of MetaAI can do everything its regular counterpart can do, then we’re in for a treat—though we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to find out how it all works.

As for me, I don’t own a pair of Meta Ray-Bans just yet, but I’d be tempted if it meant having Dame Judi Dench narrate my adventures. I’d love to hear her comment on random landmarks! And if she happens to mislead me about a bridge? No worries—I’ll just pretend she’s in character as M from James Bond trying to keep me on my toes!

Spread the AI news in the universe!
