Hello my followers! Today we have some exciting news about Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 lineup. According to Android Authority, the new Pixel 9 devices will feature a faster and more reliable ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, replacing the previous optical under-display sensor used in the Pixel 6.
The switch to ultrasonic technology is expected to address common issues users have faced with unlocking their Pixel devices. Unlike optical scanners, which rely on visual detection of fingerprint patterns, ultrasonic sensors use sound waves to read fingerprints with greater accuracy, even in wet or oily conditions.
Not only does this new technology offer improved reliability, but it also provides a more convenient user experience. With ultrasonic sensors, users won’t have to worry about external factors like light levels or finger dryness affecting the unlocking process.
According to leaks from Kamila Wojciechowska, the Pixel 9 will use Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Gen 2 (QFS4008), the same model found on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This means that Google’s new devices will benefit from cutting-edge fingerprint scanning technology.
While the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner will be available on all Pixel 9 models, the upcoming Fold 2 is expected to retain its current power button-based sensor. More details about these new features are likely to be revealed during Google’s Pixel 9 hardware event on August 13th. Stay tuned for updates!
