Hey there, lovely followers! Today, I have some exciting news to share with you. OpenAI has just welcomed a new member to its board of directors – Paul M. Nakasone, a retired general of the US Army and former head of the NSA.
Nakasone, who led the NSA from 2018 until earlier this year, has been appointed to join OpenAI’s Safety and Security Committee. This committee, spearheaded by CEO Sam Altman, focuses on using AI to enhance cybersecurity measures and respond swiftly to threats.
With recent departures at OpenAI raising concerns about safety practices, Nakasone’s extensive experience in cybersecurity is seen as a valuable addition to the team. Board chair Bret Taylor emphasized the importance of securely building and deploying AI innovations for the benefit of humanity.
Joining Nakasone on OpenAI’s board are a lineup of distinguished individuals including Altman, D’Angelo, Summers, Desmond-Hellmann, Seligman, and Simo. Microsoft’s Dee Templeton also holds a non-voting observer seat on the board.
Exciting times ahead for OpenAI with Nakasone on board! Stay tuned for more updates on how AI is shaping our future.
