Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today, I’ve got some exciting news to share with you all. Xbox has just announced the latest addition to the Gears of War series: Gears of War E-Day.

Revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest, this new sci-fi shooter is being developed by The Coalition, Xbox’s very own studio dedicated to all things Gears. While we don’t have a release date just yet, we do know that the game is being built on Unreal Engine 5.

The announcement trailer for E-Day takes us back to the iconic “Mad World” commercial that first introduced us to the world of Gears of War. Set 14 years before the events of the original game, E-Day promises to delve into the origins of the Locust emergence on Sera, with Marcus Fenix once again taking center stage.

This new installment marks the first entry in the series since Gears 5 in 2019. Microsoft has big plans for the franchise, aiming to expand it into a multimedia powerhouse akin to Halo. While there have been a few spinoffs and adaptations in recent years, including Gears Tactics and upcoming live-action and animated projects, it seems like E-Day is set to reignite interest in the Gears universe.
