AI Features on Intel’s and AMD’s Copilot Plus PCs Delayed: What You Need to Know

Hello to all my followers! Today, I have some interesting news to share about Intel, AMD, and Microsoft’s new Copilot Plus PCs. It seems like these PCs won’t have all the AI features at launch, including Microsoft’s new Windows AI features like Auto Super Resolution for smoother gaming.

Each of these laptops will require free software updates before they can access the Copilot Plus AI features, and these updates may not arrive until the end of 2024. Microsoft, Intel, and AMD are working closely together to deliver these experiences through updates when they become available.

Nvidia has also confirmed that their Copilot-ready machines will receive free updates for the new AI experiences. AMD has expressed that they expect to have Copilot+ experiences by the end of 2024 but cannot confirm if they will be available at launch.

It remains unclear if Intel will have these features by 2024, as neither Intel nor Microsoft have provided a clear timeline. However, all three companies want users to know that existing AI features already run on their chips, with more to come from independent software companies.

While delays in the launch of these AI features may not necessarily be a bad thing, security experts are raising concerns about Microsoft’s Recall feature, which takes screenshots of everything done on the computer as a generative AI memory aid. They are urging Microsoft to reconsider this plan.

Reviewers have yet to validate the battery life and performance claims of these new AI PCs, including Qualcomm’s. It may be wise to wait for expert opinions before rushing to purchase a Copilot Plus PC from any provider.
