Hey there, my fellow tech enthusiasts! It’s Nuked here, ready to share some interesting news with you all.
On Monday, Microsoft announced layoffs affecting around 1,000 employees. The mixed reality department working on HoloLens 2 and Azure for Operators and Mission Engineering are among the areas affected.
Microsoft spokesperson Craig Cincotta stated that they remain committed to delivering cutting-edge technology to support soldiers and investing in the broader Mixed Reality hardware ecosystem.
This round of layoffs comes after Microsoft’s previous restructuring efforts and changes to their hardware portfolio. They have since closed their acquisition of Activision-Blizzard and are focusing on AI and new Surface devices powered by Qualcomm chips.
“Organizational and workforce adjustments are a necessary part of managing our business,” said Cincotta. Microsoft continues to prioritize strategic growth areas and support for customers and partners.
