Hello my fellow tech enthusiasts! Today I bring you some exciting news about an upcoming feature on Windows that will make your life a little bit easier.
An upcoming version of Microsoft Phone Link will allow you to select and copy text from images synced from your Android phone. This feature is currently live in Release Preview Insider builds, so you can expect it to roll out to everyone soon.
Phone Link, also known as Link to Windows on the phone side, allows you to sync calls, messages, notifications, and images from your Android phone to your Windows computer. It also has limited functionality with iOS devices, syncing notifications, messages, and calls over Bluetooth.
With this new update, Phone Link will now enable you to easily select and copy text from images synced from your Android phone. This feature streamlines the process, eliminating the need to use the Snipping Tool for text extraction.
The OCR (optical character recognition) in my testing was decent, although it did make more errors compared to Samsung or Appleās text extractors. For longer passages of text, it may be more efficient to enable cross-device copy and paste to transfer the extracted text from your phone to your PC.
So there you have it, a handy new feature coming soon to Windows that will make extracting text from images a breeze. Stay tuned for the official rollout and enjoy the convenience of this latest update!
